
Placing himself among an elite group of the world’s most prolific inventors, Gurtej Sandhu has surpassed Sir Thomas Edison in terms of the number of patents credited to his name, with over 1,300 patents to date. Gurtej’s inclination towards learning was evident from early childhood. Quiet by nature and deeply curious about the world around him, he was driven to ask profound questions about the universe. This curiosity gradually shaped his academic path, leading him to pursue physics as a field of study.
Although born in London, Gurtej completed the majority of his education in India. He earned a BTech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi, followed by an MSc (Honours) in Physics from Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) in 1980. His academic journey later took him to the United States, where he completed his PhD at the University of North Carolina. He currently serves as Senior Fellow and Vice President at Micron Technology.
