Priyanka Chopra Jonas stole the show in a white sculptural gown at the Gold Gala 2026 in Los Angeles. Honoured as the inaugural recipient of the Global Vanguard Award, the desi girl showcased her worldwide influence yet again.
The Dress Everyone Is Talking About
Priyanka’s dress became the talk of the town. Her white sculptural gown, embroidered with the famous Lucknow Chikankari embroidery, is showcased on the global stage. The couture was created by Amit Aggarwal, who reimagined a 20-year-old Chikankari sari and turned it into one breathtaking spectacle. It is a rare scene where tradition is carefully knitted into modernity. It took six weeks for the masterpiece to come to life.
The white one-shoulder Chikankari gown is the result of imagination and a keen interest in experimentation. The idea was to transform the familiar artwork into something unique. This couture carries a quietly distinctiveness that translates through intricate tonal Chikankari, featuring delicate glass-bead embellishments that offer it depth and dimension. The gown also includes a thigh-high slit and a side drape that allows fluidity while keeping the structure intact.
She completed the ensemble with an exquisite high jewellery necklace from Bvlgari, set with diamonds and green stones.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Her Cultural Fashion Identity
Priyanka Chopra Jonas reigns over the room she walks in. She carries more than what the world sees first. By embracing her heritage and carrying it onto the world's biggest stages, through a sari or centuries-old Chikankari embroidery from Lucknow, her fashion has become powerful when it carries a cultural connection.
Who Is Amit Aggarwal — The Designer Behind the Look
Designer Amit Aggarwal is known for his unconventional approach to materials like the rubber cord, recycled glass, and hand-formed beads, which gives discarded and industrial elements an entirely new purpose. For him, the end of a material's life is not destruction but the beginning of something new. He brought that same philosophy to the gown Priyanka Chopra-Jonas wore, transforming a 20-year-old chikankari sari into a sculptural couture piece.
The famous Lucknow Chikankari embroidery has an intricate design and a complex stitch vocabulary of over 32 distinct hand techniques. It is one of the most labour-intensive embroidery traditions in India, and it sits at the very heart of this creation.
