The Vision Behind TGCL
TGCL is the brainchild and passion project of cricket legend Kapil Dev and Ateet Gaur, founder and managing director of Trinity Golf India. Both bring extensive expertise and experience in the game, with the vision of taking golf to the global stage. TGCL was created to help fulfill that vision. “When we started TGCL, we thought of making it grand and global, and as you can see, we stayed true to our word; this is just the beginning,” he said with certainty. “You will see a lot of things happening in TGCL’s upcoming seasons.”
Wave Riders Acing Both the Format and the Game
The Ryder Cup-style team format that TGCL follows sets it apart from other leagues and tournaments. The teams comprise professional, amateur, and celebrity players, with each category bringing its own experience and perspective. Together, they allow players to learn from one another, strengthen their game, and gain a broader perspective on the sport.
This quality was precisely reflected in the Wave Riders, whose professional contingent included Ridhima Dilawari and Jaismin Shekher among the female professionals, and Shaurya Bhattacharya and Arjun Sharma among the male professionals. Together, they guided the team with their experience throughout the competition. Ridhima Dilawari, in particular, delivered a spectacular hole-in-one that became one of the memorable moments of the tournament.
But a pivotal part of the team’s success also came from its strong leadership. Captain Simarjeet and Vice-Captain Ashish Kapoor played an important role in keeping the team focused, motivated and strategically aligned throughout the competition.
The team also had the privilege of featuring Indian sporting legend Zafar Iqbal as its celebrity player, adding further excitement and star power to the Wave Riders’ campaign.
