July is shaping up to be a genuinely packed month. From big-screen blockbusters to must-binge shows, there is something for almost every kind of viewer. Whether you want to head to the theatre or stay in, here is everything worth putting on your calendar.
Minions & Monsters
The Minions are back, and this time they want to make movies. Set in 1920s Hollywood, Minions & Monsters follows a new tribe of the yellow troublemakers who accidentally become film stars before losing it all when talkies arrive. Undeterred, two ambitious Minions named James and Henry decide to make their own monster movie using a spell book and actual monsters. Things, naturally, spiral out of control. It is the third film in the Minions prequel series and the seventh entry in the Despicable Me franchise, directed by Pierre Coffin with voice performances from Jeff Bridges, Christoph Waltz, Jesse Eisenberg, and Trey Parker. Releasing on 1 July in theatres worldwide, it is a fun pick for the whole family.

Enola Holmes 3
Millie Bobby Brown returns as the young detective Enola Holmes for a third adventure, this time set in Malta. Just as Enola is preparing to marry Lord Tewkesbury, her famous brother Sherlock goes missing, and she finds herself pulled into her most dangerous case yet. Henry Cavill, Louis Partridge, and Helena Bonham Carter all reprise their roles. If you loved the warmth and wit of the first two films, this one looks to deliver more of the same, with a fresh Mediterranean backdrop and higher personal stakes. Streaming on Netflix from 1 July.

Elle
Before Elle Woods walked into Harvard Law in a pink power suit, she was just a teenager navigating high school in 1990s Seattle. This Prime Video prequel series explores exactly that, following a young Elle (played by newcomer Lexi Minetree) as the experiences that shaped her iconic personality begin to take hold. Created by Laura Kittrell and executive produced by Reese Witherspoon herself, Elle is a fun, coming-of-age comedy that will feel familiar to fans of the Legally Blonde films. All episodes drop at once on Prime Video on 1 July, and the show has already been renewed for a second season before it even aired.

Silo (Season 3)
One of the best sci-fi shows on streaming right now returns for its third and penultimate season. Silo follows the 10,000 residents of an enormous underground bunker in a post-apocalyptic world, where asking the wrong questions can get you killed. Rebecca Ferguson is back as Juliette Nichols, who survived her forced exile but has returned with her memory wiped. Season 3 takes a bold new direction by splitting between the present-day silo and the "Before Times," showing audiences exactly how the world ended and why the silos were built. New cast members Jessica Henwick and Ashley Zukerman join as a journalist and a congressman in the past timeline. Premieres on Apple TV+ on 3 July, with new episodes dropping every Friday through September 4.

Moana (Live Action)
Disney's beloved animated adventure gets the live-action treatment, with newcomer Catherine Laga'aia stepping into the role of Moana and Dwayne Johnson returning as the demigod Maui. The story follows the same journey as the 2016 original, with Moana venturing beyond the reef to restore the heart of Te Fiti and save her people. Directed by Thomas Kail, the man behind the Broadway production of Hamilton, the film promises to bring fresh scale and energy to a story fans already love. The songs from the original, including the Lin-Manuel Miranda compositions, are all back. In theatres from 10 July in IMAX and standard formats.

Dhamaal 4
The beloved Bollywood comedy franchise is back with its fourth installment. Directed by Indra Kumar, Dhamaal 4 reunites the original gang: Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, and Jaaved Jaaferi, along with Sanjay Mishra, Esha Gupta, and Sanjeeda Shaikh. This time around, the crew is chasing a mysterious treasure marked on a map with the letter W turned upside down, and the chaos that follows is exactly what fans of the franchise have come to expect. Bigger sets, wilder situations, and the same slapstick energy that made Total Dhamaal a hit back in 2019. Catch it in theatres from 10 July.

The Odyssey
Christopher Nolan's most anticipated film since Oppenheimer finally arrives. An adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic, The Odyssey follows Odysseus, king of Ithaca, as he navigates a treacherous 10-year journey home after the Trojan War, facing gods, monsters, and the limits of human will. Matt Damon plays Odysseus, with Tom Holland as his son Telemachus, Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Zendaya as Athena, Charlize Theron as Circe, and Robert Pattinson among many others. Shot entirely on IMAX film cameras and running nearly three hours, this is being described as a once-in-a-generation cinematic event. Rated R. In theatres from 17 July. Heartstopper Forever
After three beloved seasons, Nick and Charlie's story comes to an end, and Netflix is sending them off with a feature film rather than a fourth season. Heartstopper Forever picks up with the couple more in love than ever, but with Nick about to leave for university and Charlie finding his footing at school, the reality of going long-distance starts to feel very real. Doubts creep in, feelings get complicated, and the question hanging over everything is whether a first love can actually last. Kit Connor and Joe Locke return in the roles that made them fan favourites worldwide, with series creator Alice Oseman writing the script herself. Streaming on Netflix from 17 July. Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker in the fourth solo Spider-Man film from Marvel and Sony. Set after the events of No Way Home, Brand New Day finds Peter fighting crime in a world that no longer remembers who he is. The pressure of watching his friends move on without him begins to change him in ways he may not be able to control, just as a new and unseen threat targets the people he loves. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film also brings in Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, and Michael Mando. Presales have reportedly been the strongest for any film in five years. In theatres from 31 July.

Batman: Caped Crusader (Season 2)
The acclaimed animated noir series from Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, and Matt Reeves returns for a second season on Prime Video. Set in a shadowy, 1940s version of Gotham City, Caped Crusader follows a younger, grimmer Batman in his early crime-fighting years. Season 2 brings in the Riddler as the main villain, alongside Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, with the Joker finally making his appearance in the closing moments of the trailer. Hamish Linklater returns to voice Bruce Wayne, and all 10 episodes drop at once on Prime Video on 31 July for a binge-friendly Friday. Season 1 holds a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, so expectations are high.
