Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey doesn't reach theatres until July 17, but its press tour has already given fashion fans plenty to talk about. In the space of a week, the tour moved from New York to a London photocall, a London premiere, and a Paris photocall — and at every stop, the cast leaned into the film's ancient Greek roots, turning red carpets into their own kind of mythology.
New York: the opening act
The tour began in New York, where Zendaya, who plays the goddess Athena, wore a demure, long-sleeved ivory look from Khaite, styled by longtime collaborator Law Roach — a subtle first hint of the Grecian mood to come.
Anne Hathaway, who plays Penelope and recently announced she is expecting her third child, used the same days to reveal her baby bump in a bright red Ashlyn jumpsuit with a dropped peplum waist and cropped, tapered legs. Lupita Nyong'o, who plays both Helen of Troy and Clytemnestra, wore a pale grey Lapointe ensemble — a silk blouse and wide-leg trousers under a coat trimmed with feathers.
London photocall: the whole cast goes Grecian
On July 5, the cast gathered for the first time at IET London: Savoy Place, and the mythology theme became impossible to miss. Zendaya wore a custom white Jacquemus halter gown with a clean column silhouette and an open back trailing into a matching headscarf, finished with Barron London earrings crafted from genuine first-millennium BC ancient discs.
Anne Hathaway went bohemian in a white Blumarine mini dress with ruffled, tentacle-like layers, paired with over-the-knee suede boots. Lupita Nyong'o chose a graphic ivory-and-black Chanel wrap dress, trading mythological softness for precision, while Samantha Morton, who plays the enchantress Circe, wore an earthy grey satin Alexander McQueen look.
The London premiere: gowns fit for gods
The next night, the world premiere at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square brought out the tour's most dramatic looks. Zendaya wore the closing look from Schiaparelli's Fall 2026 couture show, fresh off the Paris runway hours before: a sculpted, marble-like bodice giving way to a beaded fringe skirt fading from white into mirrored silver.
Anne Hathaway wore a strapless, custom blue Dior Haute Couture gown with soft draped pleating. Lupita Nyong'o swapped her Chanel for a Christian Cowan silver mesh column gown, while Charlize Theron, who plays the nymph Calypso, chose a black-and-white Givenchy gown with a thigh-high slit. Matt Damon, who leads the film as Odysseus, wore a classic grey three-piece suit, and Robert Pattinson, playing the suitor Antinous, kept things sharp in grey.
Paris: Zendaya's golden finale
The tour's biggest single moment arrived in Paris on July 7. For the film's photocall, Zendaya and Law Roach tracked down an archival Givenchy Haute Couture piece from the house's Spring/Summer 1997 collection, designed during Alexander McQueen's time at the label. The white, figure-hugging dress, with its stand collar and padded shoulders, came from a collection inspired by Jason and the Argonauts' search for the Golden Fleece — a fitting match for a film rooted in Greek myth.
The real showstopper was the accessory: a sculptural gold mask by milliner Philip Treacy, made for the same 1997 show, which covered most of Zendaya's face and rose to a point above her head. Fans online quickly compared it to the Grecian-style helmet worn by Matt Damon's Odysseus on the film's poster.
A tour that tells its own story
What ties these looks together isn't one colour or a literal costume reference — it's a shared instinct for storytelling through clothes. Ivory tones, draping, archival fashion and mythology-linked jewellery turned up again and again across three cities, echoing the film's ancient Greek roots without tipping into fancy dress. With release just days away, The Odyssey has already proved a press tour can be as carefully choreographed as the film it's selling.
