The world has witnessed another remarkable milestone for Ranveer Singh, who was introduced as the brand voice for BMW India at an exclusive event on 11 September in Delhi. The actor collaborated with the brand to unveil the new BMW 7 Series sedan in India, strengthening BMW’s position in the luxury segment of the Indian automobile landscape.
This BMW 7 Series facelift offers both conventional ICE and fully electric powertrain options, with the 7 Series and i7 variants. The former comprises the updated petrol-powered BMW 740 M Sport, while the latter comes with two EV variants: the BMW i7 50 xDrive M Sport and the BMW i7 M70 xDrive.
Since the updated lineup was introduced in international markets earlier in 2026, anticipation surrounding its arrival in India further fueled excitement among automobile enthusiasts. This was significantly uplifted by the high-profile collaboration with superstar Ranveer Singh. The alliance between two giants in their respective fields is not just a marketing strategy but a natural fit that brings together luxury and cinematic appeal.
Ranveer himself has been a great admirer of premium cars, as reflected in his collection of the Ferrari 296 GTB, GMC Hummer EV 3X, Range Rover Autobiography, and Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600. The ICE powertrain segment of the series consists of the BMW 740 M Sport, powered by a three-liter six-cylinder petrol engine. Its bold and upright front features the BMW Iconic Glow Kidney Grille and BMW Crystal Headlights. The M Sport package also gets model-specific side skirts, a high-gloss Shadowline finish, and 20-inch alloy wheels. Meanwhile, the rear features newly designed, slim, and elongated LED taillights that add to the car’s sophisticated appearance.
Moving inside the car, the ambience of the interior feels elegant and luxurious, equipped with a 17.9-inch central display and a 14.6-inch passenger screen, along with the BMW Panoramic Vision display stretching across the width of the windscreen. The EV segment of the 7 Series lineup offers two variants: the i7 50 xDrive M Sport and i7 M70 xDrive. The i7 M70 xDrive is the high-performance model, with its dual electric motors producing 680 hp and up to 1,100 Nm of torque in Launch Control or Sport Boost mode. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h. Its WLTP-claimed range is up to 686 km.
Meanwhile, the i7 50 xDrive is equipped with a 112.5 kWh battery pack and produces 455 hp and 660 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, while its WLTP-claimed range reaches up to 728 km, making it the longest-range model in the new lineup.
BMW 7 Series Specifications
The petrol-powered BMW 740 M Sport is equipped with a three-litre six-cylinder petrol engine that produces 400 hp and 540 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, with its top speed limited to 250 km/h.
Price and Availability
The starting ex-showroom price of the BMW 740 M Sport is ₹1.95 crore, while the EV segment starts at ₹1.95 crore for the BMW i7 50 xDrive M Sport and goes up to ₹2.65 crore for the BMW i7 M70 xDrive. Bookings for the lineup are already open at BMW India dealerships, with deliveries scheduled to begin in October 2026.
The new BMW i7 will also be locally produced at the BMW Group Plant Chennai, making India the only country, apart from Germany, to locally produce the i7. The i7 M70 xDrive will be available as a completely built-up unit (CBU).
