India is a country of diversity, with different regions speaking their own languages and expressing their unique cultural identities. To give these voices a platform, the brother duo Salim-Sulaiman created Bhoomi, a musical project that brings together established and emerging artists. Singers and composers collaborate to create songs that blend regional influences and emotions with contemporary music, resulting in compositions that resonate with listeners through their voices, music and lyrics.
Tu Hi Wajah: A Recent Track from the Series
Following the platform's vision, Tu Hi Wajah was released under Bhoomi 2026 on 23 October 2026. The song features the vocals of renowned playback singer Shreya Ghoshal, with music composed by Salim-Sulaiman, co-compose by Shraddha Pandit and lyrics written by Kumaar.
The song aligns with the platform's idea of cultural exchange, as Shreya Ghoshal brings her voice to Punjabi lyrics, creating a connection between different linguistic and musical influences. The lyrics express gratitude towards a person whose presence and influence have played an important role in shaping someone's life. Through this sentiment, the song celebrates the people who help us become who we are today.
The Origins of Bhoomi
The origins of Bhoomi can be traced back to 1999, while Bhoomi 2020 marked the launch of its current collaborative series during the pandemic. The vision behind the project was to bring regional, classical and contemporary music together, creating songs that reflect the richness of Indian culture while allowing its musical traditions to evolve with time.
Over the years, the project has brought together several established and emerging artists, including Arijit Singh, Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal and Sunidhi Chauhan. Through these collaborations, Bhoomi aims to create space for diverse musical traditions and give artists the opportunity to explore sounds beyond conventional boundaries.
Bhoomi 2026 So Far
The 2026 season continues the project's approach of bringing together artists with different musical backgrounds. Its releases so far include Paagal, featuring Sonu Nigam; Sabar, featuring Armaan Malik; Nuksaan, featuring Afsana Khan and Saida Begum alongside Happy Raikoti; and Tu Hi Wajah, featuring Shreya Ghoshal.
Each song explores a different emotion and musical expression. From the emotional themes of Sabar to the Punjabi influences in Nuksaan and the gratitude expressed in Tu Hi Wajah, the releases demonstrate the variety of sounds and stories that the project brings together.
These collaborations highlight the ability of music to connect people across linguistic and cultural boundaries. By bringing different voices and musical influences together, Bhoomi continues to explore how shared human emotions can resonate with listeners, regardless of the language in which a song is performed.
