Barbara Palvin walked the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on October 18, just six weeks after welcoming her first child. The 33-year-old Hungarian model appeared twice on the runway at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California. It was her sixth time in the show.
Palvin and her husband, actor Dylan Sprouse, welcomed their daughter Sylvie on Labor Day, about 41 days earlier. On the runway she wore sheer pink lingerie, which People described as a romantic negligee covered in script lettering, with a voluminous blowout and rosy makeup.
In Her Own Words
Backstage, Palvin told People that most people in the U.S. have to go back to work around six weeks, so she did not see it as a big deal. She called the moment empowering. She also told Good Morning America that she is still healing, that her parents and friends helped a lot, and that every journey is different. Her preparation, she said, centered on recovery and light exercise.
Cheers From the Front Row
Sprouse cheered from the front row and said he was extremely proud. He also posted on Instagram about his wife jumping right into the show after giving birth.
Last year Palvin walked in heels on a foot she had broken four weeks earlier, and only months after endometriosis surgery in June.
Mixed Reactions
Reaction online has been mixed. Some commenters said that if she feels healthy enough, people should leave her alone. Others worried about the example it sets for teenage girls. Her return has also fed a wider conversation about how new mothers are judged. Palvin’s own advice to other parents was to go easy on themselves.
